NATO STRIKES BACK - BATTLEFIELD SEASON 2
Pax Armata embarrassed NATO on the world stage by taking Hagental Airbase in Germany. But this wouldn't last. NATO was preparing a response, and this time it would come swiftly.
The Battlefield Season 2 gameplay trailer was premiered on YouTube today and included a unique countdown before the trailer. It shows two Pax Armata soldiers in a light transport presumably driving from the Hagental Airbase after a successful capture. In the back of the vehicle is a radio broadcasting a NATO briefing.
While overhearing an interviewer pressing a NATO spokesperson on the significance of Hagental, the signal conspicuously drops out. The Pax soldiers then mused about what could actually be going on here. Their questioning would only be interrupted when a missile lands nearby, and they are forced to get out.
NATO has struck back. Their psychoactive smoke called VL-7 is here to give them the advantage they so desperately need to take back this base.
TRANSCRIPT
Thanks to Ace of spades for sending the countdown so I could transcribe it!
INTERVIEWER: "Sir, are you able to give our listeners more insight into the situation unfolding at Hagental Airbase?"
NATO SPOKESPERSON: "What's important to remember is that Pax Armata hit first-"
INTERVIEWER: "But the base-"
NATO SPOKESPERSON: "-NATO will not let this stand."
INTERVIEWER: "But the base is a Cold War relic. Why commit so many forces when the alliance is stretched thin?"
NATO SPOKESPERSON: "NATO will not stand by while any land is occupied by the mercenaries that call themselves 'Pax Armata.'"
INTERVIEWER: "Sir, we've received multiple intelligence and defense reports that say Hagental Airbase contains classified systems-"
PAX SOLDIER 1: "That is some meat." (Unsure exactly what's being said here. This is my best guess.)
PAX SOLDIER 2: "Yeah."
INTERVIEWER: "-Pax Armata. What can you confirm?"
[GARBLED AUDIO AS SIGNAL IS INTERRUPTED.]
PAX SOLDIER 1: "Hell of a time for that signal to drop."
PAX SOLDIER 2: "Makes you wonder what else they know."
PAX SOLDIER 1: "More than anyone down here, that's for damn sure."
PAX SOLDIER 2: "Well, I know this: we showed NATO that we mean business."
PAX SOLDIER 1: "Ehh, we destroyed them, yes. And there's this: Pax wouldn't commit so many of us if Hagental was just some museum piece."
PAX SOLDIER 2: "Gotta wonder why though..."
PAX SOLDIER 1: "Brother, they tell us where to stand and where to shoot. Everything else is above our pay grade."
PAX SPOKESPERSON: "-what holds a far greater risk." (The voice sounds very similar to a Pax spokesperson that was heard during the cinematic before "Always Faithful.")
[A MISSILE IMPACT CAN BE HEARD CLOSE BY.]
PAX SOLDIER 1: "What? Incoming. Pull over! Weapons up! Get out, go, go, go! What was that? What the hell is that?"
[THE INTERVIEW COMES BACK TO THE RADIO.]
NATO SPOKESPERSON: "Extreme measures are being taken to ensure NATO regains its base."
INTERVIEWER: "Sir, sources tell me NATO has already deployed chemical-"
NATO SPOKESPERSON: "Enough. This briefing is over."
PAX SOLDIER 1: "It's coming heavy!"
PAX SOLDIER 2: "Contact! Mortars!"
PAX SOLDIER 1: "On the ground! Grenade!"
[THE ECHOES OF WAR SHAKE THE GROUND.]
A SMALL THEORY
I immediately began wondering who these Pax soldiers are. There is a chance they will never be named, but then I remembered something from the BF6 campaign. Like with other BF titles, the single player has collectible dog tags across every level. Specifically on the final mission "Always Forward," there are dog tags for twins in Pax Special Operations - Firuza and Bakhodur Rahmani. It is very likely that Pax Spec Ops were heavily involved in taking Hagental.
Another possibility is that the soldiers in the video will be part of a new Pax unit during Season 2. Is it likely that the Rahmani twins are the ones in the video? I'll admit probably not, but I wanted to include this as something fun to think about.
