A WORLD IN DISORDER

The 2020s were mired with proxy wars and financial instability. Because of this saw the rise of Pax Armata, a private military company with origins in Tajikistan. Pax's ascension was in part due to a Coalition of countries forming an adversary to NATO.

As the decade progressed, Pax's influence grew in Northern Africa, the Balkans, and Central Asia. To many, the PMC was stepping into NATO's place in the world, providing better protection and competent leadership. NATO members were becoming skeptical of Secretary General Hawthorne and his approach on their rising - and potential - enemy. It could be the start of a new Cold War, or even worse: open war. The latter had credence when reports came in that Pax Armata was conducting training exercises. Preparations were beginning for a decisive strike...

The country Georgia represented strategic importance to both factions. For NATO, Georgia was a way to keep eyes on Russia. For Pax, it was to be the last domino to fall in the region. In the end, the Georgian government wanted to leave NATO and accept Pax protection. The West accepted Georgia's wishes, but needed to transfer personnel and equipment from the NATO Mukhrovani base.

Delays and uncertainty accompanied the NATO transition of Mukhrovani to Pax. The failure to do so only underscored the incompetency of NATO. The scenario in Georgia threatened to ignite conflict across Europe.

It was only then, on September 17th, 2027, that the West's oldest alliance would meet its fate. A fate that had been written years ago.

In Georgia, the War of 2027 would begin.

PAX ARMATA'S SURGE

Embolden by their success in Georgia and another member leaving NATO, Pax Armata expands their control in Northern Africa by establishing a partnership with the Egyptian president. The deal, at first, was for Pax to support the army, but then turned into Pax leading the army. The generals and other high ranking officers forfeited their roles, sparking civil unrest in the process.

In the wake of the attacks on Brooklyn, U.S. President Richard Fernandez signed the war order on Pax Armata. The remaining members of NATO agreed to activate Article 5 and formed what the president called the NATO Global Response Force. NATO troops supported efforts in Gibraltar, Egypt, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan, where they aimed to destabilize Pax's foothold in the respective regions.
